Gilardino enjoys historic goal Wednesday 9 December, 2009

Alberto Gilardino underlined just how extraordinary Fiorentina's victory was, as they became the third Italian side to dominate Anfield.
“It's incredible to score at the 92nd and celebrate beneath 3,000 Fiorentina fans. That is truly special and we had a great game,” he grinned after the 2-1 result.
The Viola also won the group ahead of Lyon and became the third Serie A outfit to earn a victory away to Liverpool after UEFA Cup wins for Genoa in 1992 and Roma in 2001.
“It was spectacular to be here with so many fans and they deserve all of this joy. I dedicate the goal to my wife and daughter, who had to stay behind.
“We knew this squad has grown so much in recent years and have belief in our potential,” continued Gila.
“To come to Anfield and impose our style of football on Liverpool was not something to be sneezed at.”

Jorgensen: 'One to tell the kids' Wednesday 9 December, 2009
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fiorentina’s unlikely hero Martin Jorgensen says his strike at Anfield will be “a story to tell the grandchildren.”
The Dane has barely featured this season, but started in a revamped Viola side that beat Liverpool 2-1.
“I don’t often score a goal, let alone one like this and it was my first in the Champions League, so it’s a story to tell the grandchildren,” he smiled.
“It was difficult with so many injuries, but we came here and won. I’m still not entirely sure how we did it, but we did!
“We are a solid squad, have been working together for four or five years and every season make few real changes. Some individuals can miss out, but the unity and identity remains.”
When asked how he would celebrate the victory that send Fiorentina through top of their Champions League group, Jorgensen grinned.
“There’ll be a couple of cold beers tonight.”
"I feel sorry for people who don't drink. They wake up in the morning and that's the best they're going to feel all day." -Frank Sinatra
