Marius L. VIZER, IJF President
I have the pleasure of welcoming the judo family to Georgia’s capital city of Tbilisi for the country’s first Grand Prix event as part of the 2014 IJF World Judo Tour.
The contracts for the event were signed in November 2013 and I have been impressed by the dynamism of the Georgian Judo Federation.
The IJF has worked closely with the Federation and the Ministry of Sport who have been great ambassadors of the event and the sport of judo.
Georgia’s world-class judoka have been key members of the World Judo Tour and their men’s team famously won the World Team Championships in 2013.
I am sure judoka will have a great experience in Tbilisi and the event will lead to unprecedented exposure for judo in Georgia as we convey the value of our sport to communities across the country.
I wish all the competitors good luck and I ask for everyone involved in the event to conduct themselves with respect of our sport’s moral code at all times.
David Kevkishvili, President Georgian Judo Federation
On behalf of Georgian Judo Federation of I would like to welcome all guests, participants and spectators to the Tbilisi Grand Prix.
For Georgia this is the first time that we host one of the important IJF events. We are very proud and honored.
Special thanks to the President of IJF, Mr. Vizer and also the Government of Georgia, Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs for their support.
I’m sure the strongest judokas of the world will come to take part in Tbilisi Grand Prix. This amazing event will attract many people from the sports community.
I wish all athletes succsess, and for officials and guests of the Tbilisi Grand Prix to have a pleasant and fascinating sport festival.
