After missing out on a Super Rugby contract following a stellar season with Waikato,
Reece was thrown a lifeline when his professional career was in the balance after
last year appearing in court on one count of male assaults female.
An incident last July, which involved his partner, led to his contract with
Irish club Connacht being torn up after he was discharged without conviction,
fined $750, and suspended for one Mitre 10 Cup match.
Then, a remorseful Reece was given a chance by the Crusaders.

Last October, Reece was given a discharge without conviction for assaulting
his girlfriend on a night out in Hamilton on July 1. = შარშან ამ დროს
Reece and his partner were out drinking when an argument erupted between the pair and,
according to the police summary of facts, he told her
she needed to "shut up and listen to him", in stronger words.
He was seen grabbing the victim and pulling her down on to the ground and
was deterred by a nearby doorman who intervened. He was subsequently arrested.
His partner suffered injuries to her upper face, bruising to the left side of her waist and left knee.
