PALMERSTON NORTH, 2 Oct. - After a largely scoreless first half, Argentina's match against Georgia came alive in the eight minutes before half-time.
Lasha Khmaladze crossed in the 39th minute, full back Malkhaz Urjukashvili converting, to put Georgia 7-5 up at the break at Arena Manawatu on Sunday.
Moments earlier, Juan Jose Imhoff had crossed to put Argentina 5-0 ahead in the final Pool B match.
With Argentina needing only a bonus point to guarantee their place in the quarter-finals, the contest was predictably tight.
With the first score not coming until the 32nd minute, it was the longest any match of Rugby World Cup 2011 has gone without a score.
Felipe Contepomi missed two penalty chances before Imhoff finally broke the deadlock, though Contepomi was again off-target with the conversion attempt.
Urjukashvili had a chance to reduce the arrears but his penalty attempt went wide, before Khmaladze's intervention.
