International House, Tbilisi is announcing CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) program.
1. Dates: 30 January - 24 February, 2012
2. Place: International House, 1, Brosse Street, Tbilisi (International House Tbilisi is a Teacher Training Centre accredited by the University of Cambridge).
3. Aims:
** to train teachers of English to adults in modern methods.
** to update and improve teachers' English language awareness.
4. Who the course is for:
This 120-hour English language teaching course is an introductory course for candidates with little or no previous English Language teaching experience. It is also suitable for candidates with some experience and little previous training. As a qualification that is recognised around the world, it gives you the skills you need and opens up a whole world of exciting teaching opportunities.
5. Procedure for applying for the course:
1. Complete application form and pre-interview task and return to International House
2. Attend interview at International House
NB. The application form may be collected by hand from International House, or it may be sent to applicants by e-mail.
6. Before the course: successful applicants will be required to read a selection of pre-course material and to complete pre-course tasks.
The CELTA:
** teaches you the principles of effective teaching
** provides a range of practical skills for teaching English to adult learners
** gives you hands-on teaching practice
** builds your confidence.
There are five main units of learning:
** Learners and teachers, and the teaching and learning context
** Language analysis and awareness
** Language skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing
** Planning and resources for different contexts
** Developing teaching skills and professionalism.
Those completing the course successfully will receive a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA), issued by the University of Cambridge. Pass grades A, B and Pass are awarded as a result of continuous assessment by the tutors: there is no final examination. The CELTA certificate is recognized as a teaching qualification in most countries of the world.
