These New Puritans are a four-piece teenager band from Southend-on-Sea, consisting of
Jack Barnett (vocals, guitar, computer, sound), his twin brother George Barnett (drums, tapes, percussion), Tomas Hein (bass guitar, sampler, backing vocals, percussion) and Sophie Sleigh-Johnson (synthesizers). This is their debut release,
Now Pluvial, on Angular Recording Corporation, sold out on week of release. Their sound could be described as a mix of indie-guitar-post-punk-rock with whirring, spindly rhythms, samplers and electronic experimental sounds.These New Puritans take the roaring, clunking, autistic noise that surrounds them during their factory shifts and channel it. They are a rebelling fuse, spokespeople for cold machinery. A very unique sound! For fans of Sonic Youth, The Fall and At The Drive-In.
