Having released two albums, made an international name for themselves... ...on the dance scene sonically manipulating sound, Shpongle finally get some of their own treatment, with a special album of Shpongle remixes. The remix album has some stunning and varied contributions from all sorts of modern music producers, dance mixes by Eat Static and Twisted all-stars Prometheus and Tristan, a classic trancey mix by Total Eclipse, extraordinary electro from Finland's Brothomstates, electro-dub by Ott, and an amazing jazzy breakbeat mix by Twisted latest signing The Western Rebel Alliance to mention just a few. Remixing Shpongle was always going to be a challenge that even the bravest remixer took to heart. Shpongle have taken the sound so far with their innovative ambient world dance music over the last few years both in the studio and live with a 7 piece band in Japan, that there is not much more a remixer can do. That has been the challenge however and the remixers have risen to it well, keeping some of the original flavour while adding their own unique character and so giving the listener a new sound to Shpongle. Участники дуэта — Саймон Посфорд (Simon Posford, также известный как Hallucinogen) и Раджа Рам (Raja Ram, участник проектов The Infinity Project, 1200 Micrograms и др.). Звук проекта сочетает в себе восточные этнические сэмплы, живые инструменты и западную электронную музыку. Женский вокал в альбоме Tales of the Inexpressible исполнен трип-хоп солисткой Мишель Адамсон (Michele Adamson). Её соло можно услышать в таких треках, как Around the World in a Tea Daze, Once Upon The Sea Of Blissful Awareness и в некоторых ремикс-композициях Саймона Посфорда (Hallucinogen). Оба главных участника задействованы во многих других проектах (в основном гоа-транс-сцены) и записывают свои композиции на Twisted Records. Также существует фильм с участниками коллектива, который называется Liquid Crystal Vision. О возможном прекращении Shpongle как проекта заявлялось и до выхода третьего альбома, и после него. Тем не менее, 23 января 2007 года студия Twisted Records (возглавляемая Посфордом) объявила на своём сайте[2] о работах над новым, четвёртым альбомом Shpongle, который следует ожидать в начале 2008 года. Летом 2007 года на официальном сайте Twisted Records появилась информация, что 13 октября запланировано единственное выступление Самона Потсфорда в Москве, в клубе "Б1 Максимум", в рамках которого состоятся сеты Shpongle, Hallucinogen и Younger Brother. Flashback.swf Многие впервые узнали о Shpongle, посмотрев флэш-ролик flashback.swf, который начал циркулировать в первой половине 2000-х годов в различных интернет-сообществах в формате так называемого интернет-мема.
