Industrial-ის, როგორც მუსიკალური ჟანრის, "დაბადების ადგილად" მიჩნეულია 1974 წლის ინგლისი...მაგრამ, რაოდენ საკვირველიც უნდა იყოს, ჯერ კიდევ 1913(!) წლის პროექტში, რომელიც ცნობილია "Art Of Noises" სახელით, დღევანდელი გადასახედიდან, აშკარაა თანამედროვე Industrial-ის ელემენტები...
საწყის წერტილად მაინც 1974 წელია აღიარებული, რაც დაკავშირებულია, ჯგუფ Throbbing Gristle-თან, და მის მიერ დაფუძვნებულ ლეიბლთან-"Industrial Records"... რომელმაც განაპირობა ამ მუსიკალური ჟანრის და იდეოლოგიის სახელწოდებაც...
კლასიკური Industrial-ის წარმომადგენელთა სია ასე გამოიყურება:

1981-ში "Throbbing Gristle" დაიშალა და მისმა წევრებმა კლასიკური Industrial-ის ეპოქის(არც თუ ისე პოპულარული, მიუხედავად ამ ჟანრის მიმდევარი ჯგუფების რაოდენობის ზრდისა) დასასრული გამოაცხადეს და დასაბამი მისცეს ნაკლებად აგრესიულ, მუსიკალურ ექსპერიმენტებზე აგებულ, დიდი გასაქანის მქონე მიმდინარეობას, რომელიც თავს უყრიდა სხვადასხვა მიმართულებებს და აერთიანებდა Post Industrial-ის სახელით.
დროთა განმავლობაში იზრდებოდა Post Industrial-ისტების რაოდენობა...ჯგუფები ქმნიდნენ კლასიკური Industrial-ის და შეუზღუდავი მუსიკალური ექსპერიმენტების საოცარ სინთეზს...
