Job Description
The National Staff Member will be required, in accordance with the EUMM mandate, the Code of Conduct and the EU conditions of service for nationally employed Staff members, to perform the following tasks:
• Install and Maintain of all Radio Equipment (UHF, VHF, HF) in the entire Mission area (including vehicles, base stations, dipoles, antennae, etc)
• Install and Maintain of Repeaters, etc in the entire Mission area.
• Setup and adjust of Inmarsat in the Mission area.
• Setup and adjust of Thuraya/Iridium phone systems in the Mission area.
• Troubleshoot general network problems (GSM, VHF, UHF, HF).
• Troubleshoot and maintain the PABX in HQ and the various PSTN, ISDN and fibreoptic systems in Mission area.
• Troubleshoot and maintain all phone systems in the Mission area.
• Troubleshoot and maintain all data cabling/infrastructure.
• Perform other work- related tasks as assigned.
Additional requirements
• Minimum of Secondary/Vocational diploma and at least 10 years of practical experience in the area of HF, VHF and UHF communications installations, testing, maintenance and repair.
• To have excellent practical knowledge in tuning and filtering UHF and VHF Repeaters (preferably Motorola systems).
• To have excellent practical knowledge in tuning, aligning and maximising both vehicle-borne and base HF systems (knowledge of CODAN will be a distinct advantage).
• To have excellent knowledge of the transmission and reception conditions throughout all areas of Georgia in the fields of HF, VHF and UHF communications (including frequency-related issues).
• To have excellent, practical knowledge in setting up various satellite communications devices which are used to transmit and receive data, fax and phone (including GSM) signals.
• To have good, practical knowledge of PABX systems (including both PSTN and ISDN systems).
• To have good, practical knowledge of data systems infrastructure generally (Wired and Optical).
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations as a team member in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment.
• Punctuality; ability to perform under stress; willingness to work flexible working hours.
• Ability to communicate in English language.
• Ability to work outdoors (sometimes under harsh climatic conditions) in order to carry out the tasks assigned.
• Ability to prioritize and manage a high workload exceptionally
