Jintan has just confessed his feelings to Menma’s ghost.
Menma: “Hey, did you mean what you said?”
Jintan: “...I meant it.”
Menma smiles, happy.
Menma: “I love you, too!”
Jintan blushes.
Jintan: “When I said love, I d-didn’t just mean as a friend…”
Menma: “I know! It’s the sort of where you want to marry me, right?”
Jintan: “Huh…”
Menma hugs him and then looks sadly at her missing shadow.
Menma: “If I would have had a normal life, I wonder if when I got older I would have married you…”
Jintan looks painfully at it, too.
Jintan: “I’d marry you, anyway…”
Menma: “Huh?”
Jintan: “How about you don’t go to Heaven and just stay here, like this?” - I went and said it…
Menma: “Jintan…”
After few seconds of silence, Menma twirls and smiles at him.
Menma: “I’m going to Heaven.”
Jintan: “Huh?”
Menma: “And then I’ll be reincarnated! I can’t do this unless I go to Heaven, and I can’t talk to you all properly like this, either. …Ah, but what if I got reincarnated as a caterpillar?”
Jintan: - Can’t talk… with everyone…
The following day, while observing and caressing her sleeping.
Jintan: “…Is not enough to just have me, Menma?”
