Sweden, 7th of October 2007
Dear Sirs,
Once again a Georgian national team has been prevented from
participating in a European Championship tournament taking place in
the Kingdom of Sweden. This time it was the national team of Georgia
in the UEFA European Women's Under 19 Championship qualifier, which
was denied visa for taking part in the tournament.
We hereby officially protest against the repeatedly ethnical,
cultural and athletical discrimination of nationals of the Republic
of Georgia caused by the consular office of Greece in Tbilisi, the
capital of Georgia.
The consulate office of Greece is issuing visas on behalf of the
Kingdom of Sweden and is not fulfilling its committment to the
Kingdom of Sweden concerning issuing of visas.
We have reported Greece to the Commission of Europe for
discrimination five times since June.
We honestly do not understand how the sports world can ignore this
fact and refrain from doing something about it.
