NBA players want age restriction gone
The NBA and its Players Association are about to get into a pretty public skirmish and one of the battles will be over the age limit put on NBA rookies.
Seven years ago, any unbelievably talented high schooler -- guys like Kobe Bryant(notes), LeBron James
(notes) and Dwight Howard
(notes) -- could go right
from their senior proms in the spring to playing in the NBA that fall. Six years ago, the NBA made that kind of transition impossible and ESPN is reporting that NBA players really want it back.
"We want to go back to the way it was," an anonymous source told ESPN. "The players have always been philosophically opposed to it. The vast majority of players feel a player should have the right to make a living. If he has the talent and wants to make money to help his family, he should have that right. It's just a matter of principle
