The 12th pick of the 2011 draft out of Colorado by the Utah Jazz, the 6-foot-6 Burks is still 27 years old, but spent the 2018-19 season bouncing between three teams. Now he’s reportedly been signed by the Thunder as a backup wing.
By his third season, he appeared on his way to a significant role, averaging 14 points a game (second on the team to Gordon Hayward) and putting up 3.2 win shares and a 15.8 PER.
After that season, he inked a four-year, $42 million deal to stay in Utah.
The next season, he was averaging 33 minutes a game before a shoulder surgery began a three-year run of injuries.
Shoulder surgery was followed by a broken leg, which was followed by knee and ankle surgeries. From 2014-17 he missed 146 of a possible 246 games. In addition to injuries, Burke struggled with shot selection and defensive decision-making.
