If you're a good player you'll generally make more money at HU rather than 6 max.
The justification for this is the following
The money you make is a factor of your edge over an opponent multiplied against how many hands you play against that opponent. In a HU match, if you have an edge, you're getting a ton of hands against a weaker player.
In 6 max you may have 1-2 fishes at the table, but you've got to fight the other regs for their money, and can't play as many hands directly against them.
The same argument is often made for why 6 max is more profitable (in general) than full ring, typically because you get more hands against weaker players.
Obviously there are downsides, otherwise everyone would be playing HU. Examples I can think of are variance, etc.
Recommend you play both, HU will give you great hand reading skills which can often be transitioned into a 6 max game.
