Hey Guys,
Before getting on a flight from Doha to Copenhagen, I thought I’d give you a short update on my week in Qatar.
I had an amazing week here and of course I’m a bit disappointed that I couldn’t clinch the title, but I think I lost to a great champion. I’ve been admiring Kim while I was growing up, and I respect her both as a player and a person. I think I’ve played much better as in last year’s US Open final, so I’m hoping that my third time against Kim will be the charm. The score was very close, we both fought really hard, and I congratulate her for a very good year.
I had a great experience in Doha, and I would like to thank the WTA and the Qatari Tennis Federation for an excellent week for me and my family. I also need to thank the fans, who created a wonderful atmosphere during the week; I couldn’t have done it without you guys.
I was staying at the Ritz Carlton in Doha. This was my 2nd time, and I must say, it is one of my favorite hotels. My family, my team and I had good rooms and the accommodation was just great.
One of the highlights of my week was clinching the year-end #1 ranking after defeating Schiavone. I was ecstatic and it was nice to get a little revenge after losing to her during the French Open. It was great that I could share this experience with my Mom, Dad, Sven and Mats from adidas and my agents, John and Sam. My attorney, Mikkel Nissen was also in Doha, and they all supported me during the week, which meant a lot to me.
I’m flying back for a few days to Copenhagen early this morning. I’m excited to hang out with my brother Patrik and some of my friends. We’re going to a football game Tuesday night, FC Copenhagen is playing. I’ll be heading home to Monte Carlo Wednesday afternoon, and I’m taking two weeks off from tennis and training. A few of my friends will visit me in my new apartment, and I think we’ll be doing some shopping and probably will just hang out by the beach. I’m really looking forward to some downtime, the season has been very long and I need some rest now.
