New order for the Iraqi military announced today.
This is in addition to the order placed during the summer of 2008.
details below
36 AT6B Texan II aircraft with ALE-47 countermeasures and AAR-60 missile warning detection system.
The value of the contract, including spares and training is $520M
The above aircraft are for combat.
In addition to these airframes iraq also ordered 20 T6A Texans with GPS and INS.
The aircraft are essentially the same as the T6B but without weapons.
The total value of the order is $210M and brings the number of Texans on order to 56 airframes.
Iraq has become the first export customer for the Stryker Combat vehicle with an order for 400 M1126 Strykers. These will be used for the National Police.
The order includes an additional 400 M1117 Armoured Support Vehicles for the Iraqi National Police.
Total value of this order is $1.11 billion.
Not to be left out. The Iraqi Navy has placed an order for:
20x 35meter Coastal patrol vessels
3x 60meter Offshore Support Vessels
The ships are equiped with Seahawk MS1-D30 30MM chainguns mounts and weapons.
the total cost of the ships and support equipment is $1Billion.
Iraq also placed an order for an additional 140M1A1AIM tanks with the same support equipment as the first order included HEMMTT trucks, humvees etc... total order value is $2.1Billion and increases Iraq's fleet of M1A1AIM to 280 vehicles.
Iraq has also ordered a further 26 BELL 407 armed Reconnaisance helicopters equiped with 2.75inch rocket pods, machine gun pods and hellfire II missile launchers. The total value of tthis order is $366Million and brings the light combat helicopter order up to 50 units of Bell 407 ARH. Co-incidentally Iraq's ARH will be more advanced than the OH-58D's of the US Army.
Finally the Iraqi infantry will receive some 80,000 M16A4, 25,000 M4 Carbines and 2,500 M203 grenade launchers for $148M. This will continue the gradual replacement of the AK type assault rifles from the Iraqi military.
They will also receive
64x Deployable Rapid Assembly Shelters (DRASH)
50x 50W VHF radio base stations
6000x VHF handheld tactical radios
100x VHF fixed retransmitters
200x VHF vehicular radios
30x VHF maritime base stations
and several thousand other ground / air and maritime based radios VHF/HF.
The contractors are DHS and ITT. The value of the contract is $485Million.
