T-72 MBT FDS Upgrade
The Land Systems Dynamics MBT Fire control upgrade kit has been developed over the past years with specific aim on the T-72 family of Main Battle Tanks.
The Fire Control System (FDS) comprises of a cost-effective upgrade that can be easily adapted to most MBT's in service. The aim of such an upgrade is to provide a mid-life upgrade to older tanks enabling the upgraded tank to compete with the most modern technologies available.
Most MBT's in service are equipped with excellent cannons using high performance ammunitions, but unfortunately lacks a superior fire control system with night capability. Land Systems Dynamics' MBT Fire control upgrade is a strap-on solution that requires the minimum mechanical modifications to the turret. As video based overhead sights are utilised, no structural changes to the turret body are required.
Two similar sights are fitted for use by the Commander and Gunner. These sights are primary stabilised and equipped with a Laser Range Finder (LRF), 3 FOV day cameras and a high performance IR camera.
The commander sight provides a 360 degree panoramic view enabling observation on the move with hunter-killer capability while the vehicle is on the move.
No modification is required to the gun-drive system as a unique capability called co-incidence firing compensates for bad stabilisation of the turret gun-drive. A state of the art ballistic computer is added to calculate ballistic corrections with an automatic target tracking ability. Such an upgrade provides the crew with the ability to use the weapons effectively against moving targets while on the move during all weather conditions.

OPERATIONAL MODES (SIMPLIFIED)
Operation modes includes:
Commander independent mode:
Commander may use his sight independent of the turret to engage a target
Commander in control-mode
The commander is in control of the turret using the gunner sight
Slave mode
The Commander controls the turret using the commander sight and the turret is slaved to the sight
Target hand-over
The commander may hand-over the target current tracked by the commander sight to the gunner. The turret will move in order to get the target in the sight of the gunner. Thereafter the gunner will take over
Target registration
A number of targets can be registered according to their position relative to the tank. The crew may select to automatically move the sight or turret towards a new selected target on request.
