LOT plans daily Tbilisi-Warsaw flights
Q&A with George Lipartiani, director of LOT Travel Georgia, Polish Airways’ official representative in the country
Q: Summarizing 2010, which of your routes were most in demand?
A: Our Company started flights on September 15, 2010 and over the course of the last three-and-a-half months, we’ve seen a lot of success. Flights to Europe have been the most popular, as well as flights to Warsaw, Poland. LOT Travel operates flights to more than 57 different destinations from Poland, not only to Europe, but to North America and to Asia too.
Q: What is the average price for a flight?
A: Passengers can fly to Warsaw for around euro 185 one way including taxes. A return flight costs around euro 270. Flights to Europe start from euro 280.
Q: LOT Travel has a reputation for paying special attention to safety. Do you think this has been an important factor behind your success?
A: Polish Airways was founded 80 years ago, it is one of the biggest air carriers in Europe and a member of the Star Alliance group. We offer our customers the highest quality service, and of course we pay a great deal of attention to the safety of our passengers. I think safety is important but that people prefer our services because of our fair pricing structure and excellent service.
Q: From December 21 you began operating an additional flight to Warsaw each week. Has it become a success?
A: Yes definitely. We added one more weekly flight to Warsaw, bringing the total number of flights to four per week. You can now make the journey from Tbilisi to Warsaw on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, with flights leaving in the other direction one day earlier. We’ve seen a lot of interest in this route so yes, it’s certainly been successful.
Q: What do you think will be the highlight of 2011 for LOT Travel?
A: We’re looking to further increase the number of flights we make a week. We are going to make Tbilisi-Warsaw flights available daily, an additional convenience for our customers. The additional flights will make it even easier for passengers to reach destinations in Europe and further afield with Polish Airways.
