Two league wins out of two will be the aim for AC Milan and Fiorentina when they face off at the San Siro.
But the European champions, who beat Genoa 3-0 in their opening-day fixture, must recover from Friday night's UEFA Super Cup if they are to maintain winning ways.
The Rossoneri came back from Monaco having won the first silverware of the season in a match which will be remembered for the tribute paid to Antonio Puerta.
The Sevilla players wore the name of the young midfielder, who died after suffering a heart attack during the side's 4-1 win over Getafe, on the backs of their shirts, while the Milan fans sang his name.
It was an emotional backdrop against which to play a football match, and it was perhaps not surprising that the result ultimately went the way of the Italian side, who came from a goal behind to claim a 3-1 win.
The scheduling of the Super Cup meant Milan's match with Fiorentina was put back to Monday to give the Rossoneri extra time to recuperate after their exertions and defender Kakha Kaladze admits the trip took its toll.
He told Milan's official website, www.acmilan.com: "In view of Monday night's match against Fiorentina, today (Saturday) we have to rest well because we are a bit tired from the trip, then tomorrow we will train as well as we can to prepare for this match. We will play a great game."
The Georgian also insisted the Super Cup would not be the last piece of silverware to find its way into the AC Milan trophy cabinet this season.
"Milan always aim for the maximum," he said. "We want to win everything.
"Fiorentina are a good team, the match awaiting us is difficult, but we hope to win everything like last year, when we won the Champions League while no one expected it."
Now Milan's aim must be to keep pace with Juventus and Roma, who have both claimed wins from their opening two matches.
Fiorentina also have the chance to join them on six points having seen off Tuscan neighbours Empoli 3-1 on opening day.
Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli is taking care to ensure he gets his tactics just right.
He told the club's official website, www.acffiorentina.it: "At Milan we have to play with balance and attack in depth.
"I still have a few doubts about my starting line-up and what tactics I will use.
"In Milan we will be playing against the European champions. They played really well the other night and I saw what good form they are in. We must try and cause problems for Milan.
"Ancelotti is one of the best coaches in Europe as his results show and also the quality of play of his teams."
With the Serie A table already beginning to assume a familiar shape, Prandelli admits he does not have title aspirations this season.
He said: "We will not win the Scudetto this season but it is an ambition for the future."
