About Lado V. Goudjabidze
Born in the Republic of Georgia (in the former USSR) in 1945, Lado V. Goudjabidze graduated from the College of Visual Arts in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1965. He married the former Shake Abajian in 1968, and in 1971 celebrated with her the birth of their first daughter, Marina. He hosted the USSR's Georgian Contemporary Art television show in 1972, the year he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Tbilisi. After a year of military service, Lado and his family emigrated to the United States in 1976.
Lado started his career in the U.S. in 1977 as an art director and production manager for ALVA Museum Replicas, Inc, in New York. By 1980, he was representing the New York Times Restoration Group to the Hermitage in the USSR – and in that same year, he and his wife welcomed their second daughter, Iris.
In 1982, Lado brought his artist's senses and years of experience together in his own sculpture reproduction company, opening Art Deluxe Co., Inc. in Queens, New York. Since then, Lado and Shake have built the family business on a foundation of quality and service. All work is done under the direct supervision of Art Deluxe's team of highly skilled, experienced artisans to ensure every piece meets the company's strict standards.
The Artist
When asked what he wants to communicate through the forms of artistic expression he's chosen, Lado says, "Art is a tool and language for feelings and individual life philosophy... I am there for those who want to discover meaning in art and to see the artist's spirit and soul present in his work."
Lado's artistic philosophy has guided him across diverse creative and intellectual disciplines. Besides his primary dedication to sculpture, Lado has expressed his imagination in oil paintings, drawings, murals, mosaic, stone, wood carving, metalwork, bronze casting and ceramics – plus chemistry, engineering design, inventions and poetry. As an artist, Lado demonstrates remarkable versatility as he explores classic realism, abstract, free form and surrealism in his work.
