უნდა გამოვტყდე, რომ არც ფილიპ გლასის თაყვანისმცემელი არა ვარ, არც კინომუსიკისა და არც მიშიმასი, მაგრამ ისეთმა კაცმა გაუწია რეკომენდაცია, რომ გვერდი ვერ ავუარე. აი მისი ციტატა:
I am not a Philips Glass fan and avoid listening too much of his works, believing that his over-production has resulted sometimes in mediocre results. I know there are others determined to explore all his works but that is up to one's choice. I do believe, however, that among this multitude of scores there are some towering masterpieces. To name a few: Koyanisqatsi, Akhnaten, Violin Concerto and Mishima. Among his many film scores Mishima is no doubt standing out. This very peculiar film combining reality and fiction and based on a very ambiguous personality (who committed a "ritual suicide" in 25 November 1970) apparently moved him enough as to inspire some of his most substantial pages. Characteristically he decided to follow the different visual styles deployed by Schrader in the film so he used a
full orchestra for the chronicle of Mishima's ritual suicide, a
string orchestra for the depiction of his stories and a
string quartet for the mysterious and dark flashback scenes (done in black-and-white).
