ZENDEN: WE WANT TO FINISH ON A HIGHMark Platt 24 November 2005
Bolo Zenden insists Liverpool are determined to end their Champions League group campaign on a high when they travel to Chelsea for their final game next month.
"We are happy to have qualified with a game to spare and this will definitely change our approach to the game at Stamford Bridge. With both of us through there is no real pressure but we are both fighting now for top spot so it should still be a good game and we'll travel down to London in good spirits," he says.
He also commented on Peter Crouch: "Everyone is talking about Peter at the moment and the weight on his shoulders becomes greater with each game he goes without a goal. Obviously, all the players want to help him and with me playing out wide I just want to put as many crosses as I can in for him.
"He is very hungry to score and he's putting in all the effort. What more can he do? I'm sure he'll get off the mark soon."
CARRA: CROUCH WAS MAN OF THE MATCHPaul Rogers 24 November 2005
Jamie Carragher today hailed Peter Crouch's Man of the Match performance against Real Betis and claimed that despite the striker's continued wait for his first Liverpool goal, the summer signing has been a revelation at Anfield.
"We keep saying strikers are always judged on goals but he's got a lot more to his game than just that," claimed Carragher. "On the weekend he was probably our best player, and he was one of the best again tonight. Everyone is desperate for him to get goals, but as long as he's playing well everyone is happy."
