Fabien Barthez may be being linked with a move to Chelsea but he would have to undergo a major change of mind, according to Marseille goalkeeping coach Laurent Spinosi.Rumours are rife that Jose Mourinho could turn to the eccentric Frenchman as an emergency solution to an injury crisis that saw Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini both knocked unconcious at Reading.
Cech will be sidelined for many months but Cudicini is expected to return to action soon with Hilario deputising in the UEFA Champions League tie with Barcelona on Wednesday.
Barthez announced his retirement from the game recently but the former Manchester United number one could be offered a shock return to the Premiership.
Yet Spinosi, who spoke recently with the former World Cup winner, has stated that the 35-year-old is adamant he has made the right decision.
"He reflected well," commented Spinosi. "You know Fabien - when he makes a decision it is not done lightly.
"I spoke to him on the telephone and I felt he was happy, so I am too because it is his wish.
"Of course, you would have wanted to still see him on the pitch. We will miss him."
