Lazio are ready to offer Aparecido Cesar a new contract after a January move to Inter collapsed.
The Brazilian winger was close to joining former boss Roberto Mancini at the San Siro but no agreement could be reached over a fee.
Now the capital club are keen to tie him down to a longer contract given that his current agreement ends in the summer of 2006.
The Roman outfit are understood to have asked him to extend until 2008 rather than risk losing him for nothing at the end of next season.
Cesar, a quality left-sided midfielder, is set to be handed a basic wage but also a number of bonuses linked to appearances and goals.
The South American’s agent will meet with chief Claudio Lotito this week in an attempt to finalise terms.
Meanwhile, the Stadio Olimpico outfit are also very keen to keep hold of Fabio Liverani and Giuliano Giannichedda.
The midfield duo will also be offered extensions until June 2008 following some good recent form.
Liverani has broken back into the first team after Giuseppe Papadopulo replaced boss Mimmo Caso in December.
Giannichedda, despite reported interest from Fiorentina, is understood to be very enthusiastic on remaining with the Biancocelesti.
