MILAN, Italy (AP) -- Juventus beat Inter Milan and Napoli to win the Birra Moretti preseason tournament on Friday.
Juventus beat Inter 1-0 in its first 45-minute match on 14th-minute goal by Uruguayan forward Marcelo Zalayeta.
In Juventus' second game, Swiss midfielder Davide Chiumiento found the back of the net in extra time to give the Turin powerhouse a 1-0 victory over Napoli and the tournament title.
Napoli beat Inter 1-0 to finish runner-up, through a 22nd-minute strike by Italian forward Emanuele Calaio.
The mini-tournament gave Juventus -- playing without goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, midfielder Mauro Camoranesi, and strikers David Trezeguet and Alex Del Piero -- an opportunity to run out against Inter Milan after it was demoted to the second division last month, and a chance to measure itself against fellow Serie B side Napoli ahead of the season's start in September.
Juventus was stripped of its 2005 and 2006 Serie A titles, relegated to Serie B and penalized 17 points in next season's standings for its role in Italy's match-fixing scandal. The sanctions led to the departures of seven star players -- including Patrick Vieira and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who transferred to Inter this month.
Neither player took part in Friday's tournament.
Inter was named as 2006 Serie A champion last month as the highest-ranking team not implicated.
Inter coach Roberto Mancini said he was not unduly worried despite Inter's double loss.
"These tournaments give us the chance to try things out. It could have gone better but there is more to come from my team," Mancini said.
Juventus coach Didier Deschamps said his team showed great team spirit.
"We've got the right attitude. There is a great desire to play as a team, not as individuals. This is something we should maintain," Deschamps said. "We believe in ourselves and we have spirit."
