Boss warning for Keane
Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson has told Roy Keane he will need to be more tolerant as he embarks on his managerial career with Sunderland. The former Reds captain revealed he had spoken to Sir Alex on the phone before taking the job at the Stadium of Light. And Sir Alex had some encouraging words for Irishman who gave him 12-and-a-half years’ service at Old Trafford, but there was also some words of warning.
"I wished him well and told him he will have to learn to tolerate things in football that he just doesn't agree with,” Sir Alex told the Daily Mirror.
"The most important thing he has to do is find a way of enjoying the job. Some players think they know what it's like to be a manager but they don't know, they can't do. You've got to be prepared to learn and you've got to find a way to enjoy it."
Keane will take charge of his first match for the Black Cats this weekend away to Derby. He will have another trip to Leeds four days later before his first match at the Stadium of Light on 16 September against Leicester.
