Torino never gave up in their contest with Milan at the Olimpico earlier tonight, as they were rewarded for their persistence with a penalty in the closing stages, which proved to be the decisive moment in the contest.
Roberto Stellone opened the scoring for the home side, before Alexandre Pato and Ronaldinho both got their names on the score sheet within a six minute period, leaving Milan ahead at the half time interval.
Alessandro Rosina was the hero for the Granata however, as he successfully converted a spot kick with less than 15 minutes of playing time remaining.
The boss of the Granata, Gianni De Biasi, was enthused after the precious 2-2 draw with the giants of Italian football, as he believed that, “we did extremely well tonight, and the boys were fantastic in all areas of the pitch.
“We faced a great side who have been in great form recently, and even though they weren’t at their best tonight, it is still very pleasing to take a result away from the contest.
“We tried to stay calm when they had the ball, and we did so successfully, which resulted in us taking away a well-deserved point from the match.”
De Biasi went on to make reference to the penalty awarded to his side in the closing stages of the game: “it struck a defender’s hand, and so it was a penalty.
“After all we deserved the draw, and so the decision was a correct one in my opinion,” he concluded.
The Granata leapfrog Lecce with this result, as they now sit in 16th place, with 12 points to their name after 13 rounds of football.
