Moratti plays down Adri crisis Monday 16 October, 2006

Inter owner Massimo Moratti says he is not worried about the fact that Adriano has not scored in the past 200 days.
The Brazilian striker is going through a long goal drought and put in another disappointing performance against Catania on Sunday, when Coach Roberto Mancini replaced him with Julio Cruz.
“I am not worried about this phase, the 200 days also includes the summer,” said Moratti to Sky Italia.
“In any case, he is not the only player who is having a hard time finding the net.
“This is a difficult moment for him from a psychological point of view, but I am confident this is not an irreversible crisis.”
Inter went top of the table after defeating Catania, but were forced to fight back after the visitors took the lead with a stunning goal from Giuseppe Mascara.
“Sunday’s match was very difficult for us and started with that impossible goal, but luckily in the end we were able to overturn the result,” continued the oil tycoon.
“As to the quality of the football we play, I am sure that will improve, but sometimes the final outcome of a game depends on how the match itself starts.”
Meanwhile, after Roberto Mancini accused Alvaro Recoba of wasting 10 years of his career, Moratti explained the real meaning of the Coach’s statement.
“He told me that such a talented player could have become a leader for this team, but has never been able to do so – that is what he meant with his comment.
“It isn’t always easy to understand Recoba, but I personally like him,” added Moratti, who is a huge admirer of El Chino.
Inter will face Spartak Moscow in a decisive clash on Wednesday and need to win if they want to maintain their hopes of continuing their adventure in the Champions League.
“We need to win four matches, not 40, and I really think we can do it,” said Moratti.
“All the matches will be equally important and the entire squad needs to be at its best to face this crucial game.”
