Moratti to be President again Friday 20 October, 2006

Massimo Moratti has confirmed that he will become the President of Inter for the second time following the death of Giacinto Facchetti.
The Nerazzurri owner handed over the Presidency to Facchetti in January 2004 where he remained until his death on September 4.
“The board meeting will be held on November 6 and I will return to the role of President,” said Moratti in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“There are no alternatives as my son didn’t want the job. The truth is that the perfect President of Inter has left and I miss him very much,” added the club’s owner.
“I am sure that Facchetti would have been able to manage Adriano’s situation with discretion and sweetness.
“The player is not on top form and he knows that. We have to show him our trust, but that doesn’t mean that he has to play every match.
“As for Alvaro Recoba, I don’t want to always defend him, but I really think he is a world-class player and those who only see his left foot do not understand the genius that lies behind his plays.
“He is a champion and must be accepted as he is, just like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with all his inconsistency.”
Moratti also tried to defend himself from accusations that he had tailed former referee Massimo De Santis - which the chief has denied - and ex-striker Christian Vieri.
“There is an investigation underway and I will make no comment about De Santis,” he maintained.
“Vieri instead had just arrived to the club and there were strange rumours about him, that is why we decided that we needed to know more.
“However, I can understand why he was disappointed and concerned when he was informed of the fact that we had him followed.”
