Ancelotti denies conspiracy theory Tuesday 7 November, 2006

Carlo Ancelotti denied ever talking about a conspiracy against Milan and hopes that the Coppa Italia tie with Brescia will be a turning point for the Rossoneri.
“The papers have been publishing many things, but I really have nothing to add to what I said six months ago,” declared the Coach on Tuesday, referring to his statements to the police in May immediately after the Calciopoli scandal broke out, when he said that referee Tiziano Pieri was “unreliable”.
“I never talked about a conspiracy, I only said that there have been mistakes that penalised us,” added Ancelotti. “I am very calm and that is why I say what I think. I am not at all confused, as I heard someone claim.”
The former Milan midfielder chose not to answer those who did not approve of the Rossoneri’s complaints about the refereeing decisions against them.
“What would I say to [Maurizio] Zamparini and [Riccardo] Garrone? They would be happy if I said something, but I am not going to make any comment. I said what I thought and as of yesterday this discussion for me has ended.
“The Coppa Italia match can be useful for us to try to eliminate the problems that we are experiencing on the pitch. The quality of our game is lacking, especially when it comes to the competitive spirit,” explained Ancelotti, who will keep his best men at rest in view of the crucial clash on Saturday with Roma at San Siro.
“I will field some players from the youth team because Massimo Ambrosini and Rino Gattuso are injured and Paolo Maldini, Alberto Gilardino, Andrea Pirlo and Kaka are not part of the squad.
“I do not think that my comments on the competitive spirit are excessive. You have seen in the last games we played that our opponents are very determined and at times we should also try to win a game with strength, not only quality.
“Three defeats in four Serie A games are a serious problem, which is due to many different factors. It is clear that what we went through this summer left its mark from a psychological point of view. We are going through a very difficult moment and therefore we now need to head towards safe ground,” concluded the Rossoneri boss.
Milan squad: Kalac, Fiori; Cafu, Bonera, Costacurta, Favalli, Simic, Antonelli, Darmian; Lunati, Brocchi, Gourcuff, Seedorf, Di Gennaro, Guerci; Borriello, Inzaghi, Oliveira, Aubameyang
