All of AEK Athens' Champions League points have come at home so far this season as Milan head to the Greek capital in search of a point for qualification.

AEK Athens qualified for the Champions League group phase following a preliminary round win over Scottish side Heart of Midlothian, losing 2-1 away and winning 3-0 at home. The Greek side last met Milan in the competition back in the 1994-95 season, with the Rossoneri drawing 0-0 in Athens and winning 3-0 in the return which was played in Trieste. The third meeting game in September and Milan once again won 3-0.

Milan are training at the moment with a light pre-game session.

Eric Braamhaar, the referee assigned for AEK-Milan, is part of the refereeing section. He has overseen a total of 4 Champions League games, including 1 for AEK. His single precedent with the Greek side was in the UEFA Cup 2004-05 for Seville 3-2 AEK. He also oversaw a Rossoneri friendly, Ajax 0-1 Milan, in July 2001.

CAPTAIN CONFIDENT

Milan had some problems in the league back in 2002-03 and then conquered Europe. As Paolo Maldini explained, the Rossoneri cannot be underestimated.

Paolo Maldini spoke to Milan Channel the day after the draw at Empoli and commented on the game. Moving on to the Champions League game at AEK Athens, the defender looked back to the past to take confidence from what is happening at the moment: 'I have to say that this season recalls that of 2002-03 when we had some problems in the league and then had great success in the Champions League.'
