Adu Set For Manchester United Stint
Freddy Adu has a chance to improve, or devаlue, his worth in the transfer market with a stint at Manchester United later this month.
With an up-close-and-personal look at the player Manchester United may end up with first dibs on D.C. United starlet Freddy Adu, or they may choose to pass on the MLS star. The 17-year-old is set for a two week training stint with the current Premiership leaders.
"I still don't know the details, but if it happens, it will be exciting," Adu told the Washington Post.
Adu's future at D.C. has been cast into doubt ever since manager Peter Nowak subbed a clearly stunned Adu off early during Sunday's 1-0 season-ending loss to the New England Revolution. Adu, who just completed his third season at D.C., turns 18 in June, making him eligible to ply his trade in Europe at the beginning of the 2007/08 season.
The training gig at Old Trafford is slated to begin November 18, which is a few days after Adu is slated to play for the U.S. U-20 team in a friendly against Guatemala in Florida.
"This is something Freddy has wanted to do and we completely support him," United technical director Dave Kasper told the Washington Post.
"It will be a good experience for him."
