Juventus sporting director Alessio Secco insists that the capture of Zdenek Grygera underlines the club’s commitment to building a competitive side for next term.
The Ajax defender will join the Turin giants in the summer after he signed a Bosman free transfer last week.
“We’re delighted to have sealed the Grygera deal,” noted the former journalist.
“He’s an established player with great experience, a member of the Czech national side and one of Ajax’s top names for the last four years.
“It’s the latest confirmation that the club is continuing to work hard.
“We know that we still have to reach Serie A, but people shouldn’t forget that our club is the only one that is moving towards the future.”
Grygera is already the club’s third signing for 2007-08 after netting midfielder Hasan Salihamidzic (pictured) from Bayern Munich and agreeing to pay Genoa around £5m for defender Domenico Criscito.
“Salihamidzic showed his quality last week,” added Secco. “I saw him playing for Bayern in their defeat in Madrid, when he came on the team began to shine and found their rhythm.
“He hates losing and we’re always on the look out for guys who are hungry and motivated.
“We have a lot of faith in Criscito, as the investment we’ve made to bring him back here would demonstrate.
"He’s the most promising defender of his generation, he just needs to prove himself.”
