Liverpool warned over Torres
transfer Liverpool have been warned that their top transfer target Fernando Torres will remain at Atletico Madrid unless they stump up the cash for the striker. The Spain international is valued at £27m by the La Liga outfit. The Reds are keen on a player plus cash deal with with Djibril Cisse, Peter Crouch or Luis Garcia going the other way.
Atletico coach Javier Aguirre is a well known admirer of Crouch, and could be persuaded to sell Torres if the England striker agrees to a switch to the Spanish capital.
But club president Enrique Cerezo insists that Atletico are yet to receive any bids for their prize asset.
He said: "We have not yet had any inquiries from Liverpool for any of our players here at Atletico Madrid and we have not had any offers from Liverpool for Torres.
"At the moment we are working for a good team for next season.
"All the players have clauses in their contracts, but this would not do anything, we have not had any offers for Torres."
