Martin O'Neill has assured Aston Villa fans not to be worried about the club's lack of transfer activity in the first half of the summer, insisting: "The signings will be coming."
O'Neill has offloaded left-back Jlloyd Samuel, midfielder Gavin McCann and right-back Aaron Hughes in the past two months without making a single addition to his squad so far.
But the Irishman insists that situation will change in the coming weeks as, after returning from a short break, he will be spending the money made available by owner Randy Lerner.
O'Neill is already trying to resurrect attempts to sign West Ham midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker and is interested in West Brom play-maker Jason Koumas.
"We are looking to strengthen the squad in the next month and we want to be in a position where we can challenge," O'Neill told the club's official website.
"But I don't want to talk about who those players are going to be at this stage because there's been a lot of speculation and we seem to have been linked with almost everybody.
"But the supporters can rest assured we will be strengthening the squad and we will let them know as soon as there is anything to report."
Lerner has promised "significant funds" for O'Neill to add to the players he brought in during January, Shaun Maloney, John Carew and Ashley Young.
