Van Nistelrooy Injury Sends Alarm Bells Ringing In Madrid
Ruud van Nistelrooy has picked up an injury more serious than initially expected, forcing Real Madrid to intensify their search for another striker.

The muscular problem will rule him out for 5 to 6 weeks, meaning that he will miss the entire pre-season camp, and thus be behind schedule in terms of requisite fitness.
While he is expected to be fully fit for the start of the La Liga season (two months away), Real Madrid are not willing to take any chances.
They have been advised by the club doctors that such muscular injuries are the most prone to a re-occurrence, particularly in the case of players above 30.
The Merengue bosses are moving to cover their backs. Roberto Soldado is one player who will be available after returning from his loan spell at Osasuna.
Ricardo Oliveira has also been mentioned of late. The Brazilian is keen on a return to Spanish football, where he made his mark with two superb seasons for Real Betis that prompted Milan to sign him.
Javier Saviola is abother player who continues to be linked, with a verbal agreement already having been reached. It seems that both parties are looking around for better deals at the moment (Saviola at a possible Premiership move, Real Madrid at Carlos Tevez) before putting pen to paper.
The final name in the fray is that of Adriano, even though Roberto Mancini's sudden lack of interest in Cassano has made this move less likely. Pedja Mijatovic, a former teammate of the striker, is working on the deal. The problem in this case, of course, is that Adriano is not the kind of player who will handle being on the bench very well.
