Barça to place new Abidal offer



Barcelona are said to be putting in a new and improved bid for Olympique Lyon left-back Eric Abidal.

Negotiations between Barça and Lyon had appeared to come to an end after the French champions turned down Barça's original €9 million offer.

However, Barça have now gone back to Lyon with a new €12 million offer with the hope that the French side will accept bid as it is close to the €15 million that are holding out for.

Abidal himself has already said that he wants to join Barcelona this summer.

"The Barcelona bosses are interested in me. I fit the description of what they are looking for, and they are a club that I would happily go to," said Abidal last month.

Should Abidal be signed, he would join Thierry Henry and Yaya Touré as the new signings for the club.
