Bettega ends 13-year Juve reign Friday 22 June, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After weeks of speculation it has been confirmed that Roberto Bettega – the last member of the Triade – has left Juventus.
The club released a statement this evening announcing the end of Bettega’s reign in Turin after 13 years as a director and most recently consultant.
“Juventus and Roberto Bettega announce that in the next few days their collaboration will end, a relationship that for a long time was a source of reciprocal satisfaction,” said the note.
“Bettega salutes with his heart the Family, Juventus and its fans, who have been an unforgettable part of his life.
“Juventus salute Bettega with sincere affection for his effort and passion with which he dedicated himself to the club. We wish him every success in the future.”
Although the former player – who wore the jersey from 1970 to 1983 for 481 appearances – was no longer technically a part of the board of directors, Bettega was still working for the Bianconeri as a consultant.
He was the only remaining figure from the controversial Triade, as director general Luciano Moggi and general manager Antonio Giraudo were ousted in the wake of the Calciopoli scandal.
Bettega was Vice-President of the club from 1994 to 2006, during which Juve dominated Italian football and had success on an international scale.
It had been reported that he was pushed out after demands from Marco Tardelli, but this week he too quit the board of directors.

Juve sign Almiron and Tiago Friday 22 June, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Midfielders Sergio Almiron and Tiago Mendes have officially joined newly promoted Italian giants Juventus.
The duo underwent their medicals in Turin this week and have, as expected, completed their moves to Turin after agreeing five-year contracts.
Almiron has joined the Bianconeri from Serie A minnows Empoli, while the Portuguese ace has landed from Lyon.
Almiron started his career with Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina and moved to Italy in 2001 when he joined Udinese. He switched to Tuscany in August 2004 after playing for then Serie B side Verona.
“I am here to prove my value and I am ready to face any difficulty,” said the South American, who will again team up with Vincenzo Iaquinta after his recent switch from Udine.
“I will do my best, as I have always done in the past. This is a new starting point in my career – I have been waiting for this moment for some time.”
Almiron has cost the club something in the region of £6.5m.
Tiago, who was also being chased by Milan, joins Juve after winning three straight League titles in the last three years, one with Chelsea and two with Lyon.
“I am here to win more trophies and I am happy with my choice,” explained the 26-year-old who Lyon have sold for £9.3m.
“Juventus are a great European club,” he added. “Playing for them was a dream and now it has come true.”
The international, who played an important role in the Portugal side that reached the semi-finals of last summer’s World Cup, joined Lyon in 2005 after spells with Sporting Braga, Benfica and Chelsea.
