Henry: "The welcome has been a madness"!Overwhelmed by the welcome that offered him the interest, Thierry Henry analyzes in sole right the sensations of his first day of blaugrana. Also he explains the motives of his arrival.In interview exclusive with Barça TV and www.fcbarcelona.cat, Thierry Henry thanks the treatment that he has received in Barcelona, in a presentation that I "will remember all my life". Captivated of the style of Barça since always, the French forward already has desires to integrate in a fast way and of starting to work with Frank Rijkaard.
Which has been his first impression about the welcome that they have made you at the Camp Nou? "I believe that I will remember this day all my life. It has been very special. I knew that there would be people, but I have to recognize that when I have turned and I have seen all those persons I have come off really impressed. Even I have heard a little shame. Do not interpret me badly, it was something very beautiful of seeing. At the same time it has made me understanding the height level of this club".
Had you experimented anything similar along your football career? "The truth is that not. I alone being, no sooner arrived to a new place. It is a certain that when I have been part of another team, being in group, when we have won some title, the interest yes that its gratitude makes you arrive. But this welcome for me alone has been a great surprise."
Do you understand that you have received the interest like a great idol? "I only attempt to do good my work, which is to play the football. Sometimes I achieve it and sometimes not, but this is part of the game. On the day of my presentation as a player of Barça I have understood fast what the people of here expect about me. The welcome has been a madness! I will always thank to the the blaugrana interest that has acted as the day of my presentation something so special. I have come here to attempt to help Barça to winning titles, but I have never seen myself like an idol. It has been a magnificent day."
You have said that one of the motives that have carried it to sign on for the Barcelona FC is their style of game. Since when do you like the style of game of Barça? "Since where my football memory arrives. It makes me a lot see this team to play. I believe that Barça is the only team of the world that has not modified its style of game with time. It has an attractive style, that it always goes to the attack, scoring many goals..., and this is the one that the interest likes. This is the motive for which everybody knows the Barcelona FC. Simply a beautiful style is from seeing when you are not in inside, but I am now luckily here and I will be able to live it closely. Perhaps one is from the most important aspects for me: Barça is an attractive team of seeing".
Which are the players you like more from the Barcelona FC? I "do not know it..., there is so many! Perhaps I would say Cruyff, Maradona..., but at the same time I remember, when I was among 14 and 15 years, Stòitxkov i Romário loving them for me. It is a reality that you always remember more the team with which you have kept on growing up than the rest. Also I remember the period of Ronaldo. Either I can forget about Luis Enrique, Guardiola.., so many could be said"!.
The front part of the Barcelona FC counts right now on players like Eto'o, Messi and Ronaldinho. It has the sensation that you will have to work of brave to win a place? "Before arriving here I knew very well the one that I would find and the one that would happen. It is normal that a club like Barça has this type of players. It will be a decision of the technician which players they will enter in the eleven. One of the most important things it is that all joints we throw the team ahead so that the club can win titles. At the end of the day, although it is a certain that the people remember determinate players, above everything I remembers the victories of set. If you win, you remember the players afterwards. I believe that the most important is the one that Barça wins, independently of whom it plays."
Thuram said that there is not any other team in the world that has a front part like the one that will have Barça this season. Do you agree with it? I agree. It is not much nice that I say it, because I will play it in front. At any rate, the most important is that we are capable of playing like an team. The quality is there, there is not any kind of doubt about the quality. It will also be basic that, whichever forward that plays, we help the defenses and the migcampistes, a key work to win matches. It is well to make a football attractive and I enjoy a lot, but also we have to facilitate the things in the rest of lines of the team. When you see the names of each member of the staff, also mine, we are frightening."
Have you talked to Lilian Thuram in the last times? What has he explained to you? We "have not talked in the last times, but before yes that Gio had made it with him, with Eto'o, with Ronaldinho... They all have always told me the same one: "If sometimes you have the opportunity to come to play Barça, do not doubt it, make it". When somebody comments you on this in a so clear way there is very little to say. Thuram is one of the greatest players of the team, he has been part of many sets, has a lot of experience, and he said me the same one. And I have paid him attention."
You have said that you ar going to Barça to learn. What needs to learn a figure like Thierry Henry? The one that I said reflects very well my way to be. Now I am here, I know many things of the club from outside but not from inside. I believe that when one arrives to a new club he has to watch, to listen a lot. I am 29 years old, almost 30, and I do not know it everything on the club. I need to discuss Ronaldinho, Oleguer(
), with the captain, with Carles Puyol, and also with Eto'o, Iniesta, Xavi..., people who bring here many years. They are them those that have to teach me the way for adapting myself in a simple way. The persons who bring many years to the club have to be respected. When you arrive to a place you have to loan a lot of attention to the people who are already there."
