. შეფასებები:
DAVID JAMES: Looked assured and comfortable (no blame attached for the goal) until the very last minute when a rush of blood to the head saw him attempt to claim a corner. Six out of ten.
WES BROWN: Started very, very nervously, giving the ball away twice in the opening 20 minutes to hand Switzerland a couple of early openings. Grew in confidence and one sumptuous long ball almost brought the opener from Wayne Rooney. Six.
RIO FERDINAND: Rarely really troubled but should have got closer to Eren Derdiyok for Switzerland's goal. Six.
MATTHEW UPSON: Let nobody down and was definitely the pick of the defence, making some timely headers and looking a threat at the other end from set-pieces. Seven.
ASHLEY COLE: Not the player of two-three years ago, Cole was sloppy with his passing and failing to dominate defensively, His mind is probably on other things. Five.
DAVID BENTLEY: A very encouraging performance in two positions - wide on the right and through the middle after the introduction of Peter Crouch. Cracking set-piece delivery and some very good link-up play with Rooney in the first half. Seven.
STEVEN GERRARD: Started poorly as he struggled to find space in a packed midfield but then rose in confidence as England grew more accustomed to a slower, more patient style. Involved in both goals, including that beauty of a ball for SWP. His best England performance in a good while. Seven.
GARETH BARRY: You just want to use the word 'tidy'. So we will. Six.
JERMAINE JENAS: Stuttering start and twice buggered up when heavily involved in an England attack. But he was in the right place for the goal and probably deserves another chance. Six.
JOE COLE: Was the focal point for everything creative for the hour he was on the pitch and his assist for the goal was typical of his performance - leaving the full-back on his arse and then delivering a perfect ball for Jenas. It wasn't his first or last of the night. Eight.
WAYNE ROONEY: Absolutely brimming with energy and enthusiasm, Rooney was pretty much everywhere on the pitch even before the formation change gave him more license to roam. Just as for ManYoo, his overall play and attitude was excellent, his finishing left a little to be desired. Eight.
SWP (for Jenas, 60): Just like Jenas, did his job in getting in the right place beyond the striker for the goal. Delivery clearly not as good as Bentley but a decent cameo. Six.
CROUCH (for J Cole, 60): Won the initial header for England's second goal and almost scored with a volley as he put in his usual hardworking shift. Six.
BRIDGE (for A Cole, 74): The best thing that happened to him all night was Ashley's less-than-convincing performance.
HARGREAVES (for Barry, 74): Got stuck in and seemed to do more in 16 minutes than Barry managed in 74.
YOUNG (for Rooney, 87): Not enough time to make an impression
