Milan
Kalac – 6: Had very little to do all game, but his decision-making was good and he pulled off a couple of alert saves from Borriello.
Oddo – 6.5: Much improved performance from the wing-back, who has had a campaign to forget so far. Numerous bursts down the right and solid in defence too.
Nesta – 5.5: After his poor performance in Bergamo on Wednesday, Nesta again struggled at times today. Made an awful error in the first-half that nearly let in Borriello.
Kaladze – 6: The Georgian is prone to lapses in concentration and this was again demonstrated today. However a generally sound performance on the whole.
Maldini – 7: At the age of 39, Maldini is by no means in the team just because of his name. He is there because he still has quality. Created Pato’s first goal.
Gattuso – 7.5: I will not go so far to say that Gattuso is ‘back’, but he is nearly ‘back’. The hardman won the midfield battle hands down today.
Seedorf – 5.5: Not one of Seedorf’s better games. The Dutchman was anonymous at times, although he did have a helping hand in Pato’s opener.
Pirlo – 7.5: Pirlo was slightly off-key in the first half, however he was back to his majestic best after the break. Deserved a goal with his brilliant free-kick.
Ambrosini – 7: Battled well and got stuck in. Ambrosini and Gattuso were dominant in the middle-of-the-park.
Kaka– 6: Showed some explosive bursts, however not really at the races today. Found it difficult to escape the attentions of Konko.
Pato – 9: Man-of-the-Match. After a disappointing display in midweek, Pato calmed fears that he may have been over-hyped. Scored both goals, and could have had five or six. Certainly needs to work on his finishing though.
Substitutes: Emerson – NA, Brocchi – NA, Gilardino - NA
Genoa
Rubinho – 8: Brilliant performance by the goalkeeper, despite his sending-off. At times it was Rubinho versus Milan. His save from Pato in the first-half was world class.
Bovo – 5.5: Competed well aerially, and looked assured in the first half. However after the break he struggled to cope with Pato.
Santos – 5.5: Exactly the same analysis as Bovo above. Eventually Milan’s constant pressure told.
Fabiano – 6: Was a dangerous weapon for Genoa in the first-half on the counter-attack, however he was completely left for dead by Pato for the second goal.
Sacramento – 5.5: An anonymous game from the wonderfully-named Brazilian. Over-run by Gattuso and Co.
Milanetto – 5.5: The veteran midfielder also struggled at the hands of the Rossoneri’s brilliant midfield-five.
Konko – 7: The former Juventus youth-team product did an excellent job limiting the impact of Kaka. Although he should have had a penalty awarded against him for a blatant handball in the box.
Rossi – 6.5: Rossi led by example and put up a real fight. His mental qualities helped Genoa hold on until almost the 70th minute but ultimately it was in vain.
Juric – 5.5: The Croatian has spent much of his career playing in the lower Italian leagues and it could be seen why today.
Sculli – 5.5: A good outlet on the break in the first-half, completely went missing in the second.
Borriello – 6.5: Borriello certainly has a future at a bigger club ahead of him. Caused some nervous moments for Nesta and Kaladze, and was the only Genoa player who looked capable of making something happen.
Substitutes: Scarpi - 6, Figueroa – 5.5, Lucarelli – 5.5
