Football Italia rounds up the winners and the losers from Week 32 of the Serie A season
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The winners…
Pippo Inzaghi (Milan)
After two months out of action, Super Pippo chose an opportune moment to announce his return. The veteran had been chomping at the bit on the sidelines and his brace ensured a vital win over Cagliari to keep Milan's Champions League qualification hopes alive. There's life in the old dog yet.
Amauri (Palermo)
Juventus' scouts certainly won't have missed the ex-Chievo marksman's latest tour de force. Amauri eloquently reminded the Old Lady why they are considering parting with £10m plus for his services with a breath-taking brace at the Bianconeri's expense.
Walter Zenga (Catania)
The new Coach made a dynamite start to life at the Massimino as he inspired the strugglers to an emphatic 3-0 win over Napoli. His tactical masterstroke in moving Juan Vargas to midfield may be attributed to necessity, but the former Inter 'keeper deserves a large slice of the credit.
The losers…
Zeljko Kalac (Milan)
The man brought in to replace the howler-prone Nelson Dida goes and gives Milan a gaffe that the Brazilian would've been proud of. A harmless Daniele Conti free-kick is dropped and then allowed to squirm under his body.
David Di Michele (Torino)
To miss an open goal is bad. To miss it when the game is goalless in the final minute and 40 seconds later the opposition score against the run of play is something else. It wouldn't be so awful if it weren't for the fact Di Michele has made a habit of this sort of unbelievable mistake. He'd be kicking himself, but he'd probably miss that too.
Reginaldo (Parma)
How costly could the Brazilian hitman's prodigal performance against Lazio prove? The promise the 24-year-old showed a few years ago at Treviso seems to have evaporated as he looked embarrassingly impotent against the Aquile. He wouldn't have scored if they had played until midnight.
The goals…
Mirko Vucinic (Roma)
Luciano Spalletti did tell him to prove he could play as a centre-forward... Vucinic gathered with his back to goal, spun round and looped the volley to take the cobwebs out of the top corner. What made it extra special - it was with his weaker left foot.
Amauri (Genoa)
The look on Gigi Buffon's face said it all. The Brazilian wasted no time in charging forward and curling a divine finish from 16 metres that landed precisely where the 'keeper couldn't possibly reach.
Mattia Cassani (Palermo)
Hardly what you'd call a defender's finish. This full-back unleashed a missile from 26 metres on the bounce that left the World Cup winning goalkeeper rooted to the spot.
The numbers…
Leading the way
Alessandro Del Piero now holds Juventus' appearance record after overtaking the great Gaetano Scirea with his 553rd game for the club.
Second-half switch
Prior to this weekend, Palermo had lost 13 points by conceding in the second half and Juventus had secured an extra 18 with goals in the second period. The Rosanero's last-gasp winner at the Renzo Barbera bucked that trend.
Fotress Franchi breached
Udinese's Antonio Floro Flores became the first opponent to score at Siena's Stadio Artemio Franchi in 566 minutes of football.
