Barca To Receive €700,000 For Lending Stars
The clubs who lend their players to the different national teams for the European Championship will finally receive compensation, with Barcelona and Real Madrid at the top of the list.
In Spain, Barcelona and Real Madrid will be the best compensated clubs: only for the duration of the first round of the competition each team will receive close to €700,000 for loaning out eight players each.
After a meeting in January UEFA decided that the affected clubs should be compensated for lending players to their respective national teams. The 16 national teams, consisting of 23 players each, will have to be presented to the UEFA football authorities five days before the tournament's official kick-off .
From that instance their clubs will be earning compensation. The presidents of Real Madrid and Barcelona, Ramon Calderon and Joan Laporta respectively, were key in determining the decision, because their clubs would be among the most affected.
If Spain, for example, reach the final of the European Championship on the 29th of June, Real Madrid will receive, only for their two Spanish internationals (Casillas and Ramos) €290,077. Meanwhile, Barcelona will receive a sum of €435,115 for their three Spanish internationals (Puyol, Xavi, and Iniesta).
Valencia, who along with English side Liverpool are the club with the most Spanish internationals (four players) in Luis Aragones' side, will cash in €580,154 if Spain qualify for the final.
In total, Spanish clubs have loaned out 42 players to the different national teams, a number surpassed only by clubs from Germany (53 players) and England (44 players). The Italian clubs have loaned out a total of 34 players. Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have loaned out the most players, that number being eight each.
