Crisis Or Over-Reaction At Camp Nou?
Barcelona supporters called for Joan Laporta to resign after seeing their team's title chances dented after being held at home by Getafe on Sunday evening.Having supported the side throughout the encounter, frustration finally translated itself into a protest against the Blaugrana president in injury time.
Thousands of people waved anything white that they could find to voice their dismay as Frank Rijkaard's team threw away another chance to close the gap on Real Madrid.
As the final whistle blew, Laporta made a hasty dash for the directors' area away from the vociferous fans who were now surrounding the presidential area and calling for him to go.
Vice-president Marc Ingla was one of the last to leave the zone as he stood and heard the fans' complaints as they criticised the board and the running of the club.
It is the first time in five years at the helm that the current regime have been turned on by the supporters because of football, although Laporta received the same treatment when the basketball team went through a similar run.
Five trophies since 2003 now counts for nothing to the demanding Culés and 300 or so waited outside the directors' entrance near the front of the main stand to continue their protest.
The game that added the last drop to the glass, as El Mundo Deportivo put it, saw Barça play without Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho and Deco.
The Blame Game
They dominated the encounter and hit the woodwork three times against a side that played nine men behind the ball and yet the fans somehow believe that Laporta is to blame.
Last summer, the board strengthened the squad well with four useful additions, with Thierry Henry being the star signing and all the talk was of the 'Fantastic Four' forwards.
Barça could not score against Getafe, but that was not down to the board as Messi is still recovering and Ronaldinho has gone off the rails for one reason or another, depending on who you believe, and any team in the world would miss them.
All in all, the only real problem Barcelona fans can have is that they have not caught Real Madrid, but that in itself is the most major problem the club can have.
The Blaugrana are on the verge of a place in the semi finals of the Champions League and have struggled through a season with injuries to key players at crucial times.
Media speculation and interference has not helped and the continuous desire to change for the sake of change means that Rijkaard and several players now feel destabilised.
With only seven league matches remaining, and one of those at the Bernabéu, and the chance of European glory to come, are the fans really being fair or have they over-reacted?
Is Laporta really to blame for the fact that the team have stumbled, just like Madrid have, or is it circumstance that has meant that the team have struggled at crucial times?
What do you think? Tell us whether sacking the board, Rijkaard and selling various players will really change things at Barcelona, or is time for some cool heads and for everyone to unite as the coach has asked for?

City Launch Ronaldinho Bid As Chelsea Duck Out
Reports in the UK state that Manchester City will make a move for out-of-sorts Barcelona forward Ronaldinho in the summer.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are understood to have dropped their interest in the player.Brazilian forward Ronaldinho is believed to be heading for the Camp Nou exit doors this summer after five years with Barcelona.
The player's brother and agent, Roberto de Assis Moreira, was a VIP guest at Manchester City's Eastlands stadium on Saturday, and speculation is mounting that the Citizens could be planning an audacious bid.
With De Assis was super agent Pini Zahavi, a man who brokers some of the biggest deals in football.
Willing On Wages
City are apparently ready and willing to match Ronaldinho's wage demands of over £100,000 per week, but it is not known whether the player himself would really want a move to a club only ninth in the English league.
Bigger clubs like AC Milan have already made their interest clear, but City owner Thaksin Shinawatra is understood to have held talks with De Assis via telephone and taken the news that the agent was willing to spend the weekend in Manchester as a signal of intent.
Citizens boss Sven-Goran Eriksson, a close friend of Zahavi, hopes the plans come to fruition. "I hope it's true," he said of the reports. "I would not protest against it. But I don't know if Ronaldinho wants to play in the Intertoto Cup next season."
Chelsea Out
City lost Saturday's game 2-0 to Chelsea but reports in the Daily Mail have claimed that the Blues have officially ended their interest in Ronaldinho.
De Assis had been encouraging Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon to enter the bidding for his brother and also had a long discussion with first team coach Henk ten Cate, who he knows well from the Dutchman's Barcelona days. But manager Avram Grant has made it clear that Ronaldinho isn't the kind of player he wants at Chelsea, believing the Brazilian could do more harm than good, and has let it be known that the Blues' interest in the Barcelona man is over.
