Ancelotti's Last Chance Saloon Saturday 17 May, 2008

Carlo Ancelotti is well aware this is Milan’s “Last Chance Saloon,” but won’t consider the UEFA Cup a tragedy.
To finish in the top four, the Rossoneri must defeat Udinese and hope that Fiorentina don’t get all three points away to Torino.
“I think Toro will play their game and having achieved their objective of safety can go out there without pressure, just as Napoli did against us last week,” said the Coach of that 3-1 defeat.
“In any case, our future in Europe does not depend solely on us now. It is futile to remind everyone that Fiorentina are in a better position, just as we were last week before the game against Edy Reja’s squad.”
That dismal performance risks ruining all the hard work Ancelotti has put into this campaign.
“It was unexpected, as we were in good shape. Tomorrow evening we’ll know what it meant. This is our Last Chance Saloon. If we should end up in the UEFA Cup, then we’ll approach it with the same spirit as the Champions League.”
General manager Adriano Galliani confirmed that Ancelotti will remain on the bench regardless of whether they end up in Europe’s premier competition.
“In the meantime we have to focus on getting three points against Udinese. They have real quality, especially in attack, and the fact they have nothing to aim for means they’ll have less pressure on their shoulders.
“We must play well for the entire 90 minutes and show true belief. I can confirm that Nelson Dida is on the bench, while Marek Jankulovski and Yoann Gourcuff are unavailable.”
Alessandro Nesta and Gennaro Gattuso are suspended, leading many to suggest the midfielder has played his final game with the Rossoneri jersey.
“I have received some reassuring signals from him. He will stay,” assured Ancelotti.
The same is not true for Marcos Cafu and Serginho, who have already confirmed their departure.
“They have done great work with professionalism and effort. The objective in the future will be to find this type of player.”
