Giovinco Close To Juventus Renewal - Report
After many weeks of negotiations, it seems that finally the issue of Sebastian Giovinco’s contract renewal with Juventus is slowly coming to a positive end for both sides.

The Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Giovinco will pen a new deal with the Old Lady despite the rumours of the past weeks that he was being followed closely by Arsenal.

The player’s initial wage demands were turned down by the Bianconeri’s management, but new talks are expected in the middle of next week following the squad’s return from their Champions League commitment against Bate Borisov.

Apparently the gap between the two parties has been decreased as the player will probably accept a new contract which expires in 2013 worth €700,000 per season.

This was confirmed by the club’s director of sports Alessio Secco to Sky.

Reports: Schweinsteiger To Join Juve Next Summer
According to reports in Italy, Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger will join Juventus on a free transfer next summer.

“There are never easy renewals, but the distances are not so ample,” he commented.

“The player is the club’s asset, but he must complete a process of maturation, also from the psychological part, and what interests us is that he is aware that he did not arrive yet.”

Ranieri awaits Marassi battle

Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri expects a tough game against Sampdoria but believes his side can build on the positives from their draw with Catania.

The Old Lady travel to Marassi to take on a struggling Sampdoria side, who are yet to register a League win this season.

But Ranieri's men are also determined to get back to winning ways after a frustrating draw with Catania in mid-week.

“We drew but that doesn't mean that this game is a must-win,” Ranieri insisted.

“We must stay calm and regain the energies and motivation without playing with apprehension.

“Perhaps the game against Catania was two points lost but we made lots of chances and the goals will surely come in future.

“I don't want to look for excuses, but the pitch didn't help - maybe rugby players would be happier on that surface.”

This weekend provides the Bianconeri with the ideal chance to put pressure on Inter, who face Milan in a derby.

“Of course I will be watching but I won't be supporting anyone,” Ranieri said. “I will just be an interested spectator.”

Jose Mourinho has caused controversy in the peninsula by sending assistant Beppe Baresi to conduct Press conferences after the last two games, a practice that Ranieri doesn't approve of.

“It's hard to stay more than an hour after a game to give interviews,” he admitted.

“I have joked with Jean-Claude Blanc that I should be paid double because I have another game after the final whistle.

“However, I think that being in a Press conference is seen as a form of respect to Italian fans

“It's a part of our job and it's only right to satisfy the curiosity of millions of people.”

Ranieri concluded by refusing to accept the favourites' tag for the trip to Liguria.

“There are no easy games and everyone is very even,” he insisted.

“Lecce did well at San Siro, Genoa are in great form and likewise Sampdoria are always a strong team to play against.”

The history books show that Juve have won this fixture 49 times to Samp's 21 with 32 draws - including last term's 3-3.
