According to British tabloid, News of the World, Barcelona are believed to be interested in signing left-back Patrice Evra from Manchester United.
It has been reported that the Catalan giants have, on numerous occasions this season, sent a number of their scouts to Old Trafford to keep a close eye on the Frenchman’s performances.
It has also been speculated that Barca could make an official offer of €22 million for the 27-year-old this coming summer as they look to shore up one of their only weak points in the team.
Fellow Frenchman, Eric Abidal is the undisputed first choice with the Blaugrana at present but he has not been able to rediscover the kind of form he showed at Lyon prior to his €15 million move to the Camp Nou in June 2007.
He has constantly been linked with a return to Ligue 1 and he is currently sidelined for two months after tearing a muscle in his right thigh during Saturday night’s shock 2-1 loss at home to Espanyol.
His only natural deputy is Sylvinho but the ex-Arsenal man is in the twilight of his career at 34 years of age and his contract will expire this June.
Evra recently signed a new four year contract with United, with an estimated wage of €80, 000 per week.
