Barcelona Preparing Bid For Porto's Bruno Alves - Reports
Pep Guardiola has reportedly been a fan of the defender for some time now...
Barcelona are reportedly ready to make a substantial offer for Porto stopper Bruno Alves in the summer and have already drawn up a contract for him.
Portuguese newspaper, Diario de Noticias reports that Alves has been a target of Pep Guardiola for some time and the Blaugrana coach even tried to sign him at the start of this season.
After seeing his first attempt fail, 'Pep' is now ready to come back a second time with a contract believed to be five years in length. However, Alves himself is not thought to be interested in sitting down to negotiate yet.
The Portuguese defender, who reportedly knows about the interest from Barcelona, believes that first of all the Catalan side should get in touch with Porto.
From there the two sides could work out a deal and it is thought that at a minimum, the Portuguese outfit will want €20 million for their player.
The 27-year old has a contract with Porto until 2011 and comes from the same background as Ricardo Carvalho and Jorge Andrade.
He is the most used player in the league with Porto this season and has scored two goals in his 17 appearances.
The defender is renowned not only for his good aerial presence at the back but also for his strength going forward and his ability to start counter-attacks.
