The 39-year-old official, who took over from disgraced director Luciano Moggi in the aftermath of Calciopoli, has now already started planning for next summer’s transfer campaign.
“I am very satisfied [with the contract extension], as I believe it was an important show of faith,” Secco told Sky Sport 24.
“These have been three difficult years, because I had to fight against uneasy situations, but this only strengthened my character.”
The Old Lady are apparently in pole position to land Werder Bremen star Diego next summer, but there are rumours that they could also try and lure Sampdoria icon Antonio Cassano.
When pressed on the duo, Secco hinted he may indeed be chasing Bremen's Brazilian playmaker, but that Cassano was not the type of player his side required.
“Cassano is a champion, but there are others like him out there,” said Secco.
“Plus, he is a striker and we are not looking for that kind of player.
“Diego? We are trying to keep things under wraps, but it is difficult to do it sometimes.
“I don’t like publicising the things I want to do, but I know that if we want to improve, we will have to get top players.”
