Laporta: It Is A Difficult Draw For Barcelona
Barcelona have been drawn at home first in the quarter-final of the Champions League against Bayern Munich, and will also play the first leg at Camp Nou if they reach the semi-final - and president Joan Laporta is not best pleased about that...
Joan Laporta has admitted that he would have preferred to play the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final at home and admitted that the draw had been unkind to Barcelona.
The Blaugrana will take on Bayern Munich in Camp Nou first and if they defeat the German giants then they will face either Chelsea or Liverpool, again with the first game being at home.
Despite that, Laporta remained upbeat and believes that If Barça do make it through either or both rounds then it will be an ever greater achievement.
"The draw has made things difficult for us because we are playing the second leg away, but the challenge is greater and will have more merit," Sport quote him as saying.
Laporta was hoping to draw another team because he did not want to meet his friends at Bayern at this stage of the competition and would rather have been set the task of eliminating someone else.
"It makes me feel bad that we have drawn Bayern Munich because of the great relationship that we have with them," he admitted.
Looking to the first game, the Catalan club's president is expecting a great atmosphere in the stadium and hopes that this will drive his players on.
"It will be a magical night in Camp Nou," he added.
